Library of the Negated Words - Blasphemous Guide - IGN (2024)

Library of the Negated Words is the sixteenth level in Blasphemous. This page features a detailed walkthrough of this area, explaining the new enemy types you'll encounter, as well as information on collectibles you can find.

Climb down the ladder and you'll see spectral enemies that will only appear once you're close to them. They won't attack, but they will damage you if touch them. At the bottom of this section, the door to the right is a fast travel teleporter. If you haven't already done so, use this as an opportunity to take the Olive Seeds you picked up in Patio of the Silent Steps to Tirso You'll receive Tears of Atonement in return.

Go Back to Library of the Negated Words

Then go through the door to the left. In here you'll have two types of enemies: one that throws books at you and another that throws out floating heads. You'll need to pull the lever on the far left first, to move the ladder across the room. Climb the ladder and take out the book-throwing enemy, then pull the next lever, but be ready to jump onto the moving ladder to make it across to the left.

Climb up and jump across to the ledge, taking out the second enemy, then drop down and take out the one throwing the floating heads. Climb back up and go through the door on the left and active the Prie Dieu.

Head to the very far left of this room, speak to the Diosdado here and continue through the door.

Go over to the far left, climb up the ledge and pick up the Sacrum of the Dark warlock. Drop down and pull the lever, then follow the platform to the middle of the room.

Climb up, get the Cherub on the right, with the ranged attack, pull the lever, jump on the platform to the left and go through the door.

With the Blood of Perpetuated Sand equipped and the Three Gnarled Tongues, climb up to the platform above. Then use the roots to reach the Tibia of Alsahi, the Mystic on the little ledge.

Drop down and the door on the right will let you cleanse your Guilt. Go down to the bottom of this room using the ladders, then into the door on the left.

Go over to the left and jump up onto the ladder. Climb up and pull the lever, which will bring the platform from the left over to you (as well as a book-throwing enemy so be prepared to jump).

Pull the lever again and ride the platform over to the left, being careful to avoid the second enemy. As you move to the left, a spectre that shoots purple beams will appear.

Climb down the ladder and go over to the left. With the Blood Perpetuated in Sand and the Three Gnarled Tongues equipped, climb up to the door on the top left.

As you enter, you can use the Prie Dieu here as a checkpoint. Equip the Silvered Lung of Dolphos and go to the room on the left. Work your way over to the left of the room, avoiding the floating skulls and taking out the enemies that throw the floating heads.

When you get to the far left of the room, you'll come to one of the larger enemies from the start of the game and a chest. Beat the enemy and open the chest to get the Amber Eye. Go back over to the right and back through the door to the Prie Dieu.

Now you want to climb up, as soon as you take the first ladder and a spectre with the purple beams will appear. There are two of these in the area. The platforms with the ladders will keep moving back and forth, so you'll want to climb up, deal with the spectres and then the enemy with the floating heads. As you reach the top, take the ladder up and you'll be back at Patio of the Silent Steps. Hit the top of the ledge to break a bit and create a shortcut.

Climb back down to the Prie Dieu and then take the door on the right. Drop down in this room and go through the door on the left this time. Jump across to the ledge on the right, hit the wall and reveal a door. Go through here to find another blood fountain. Go back and drop down to deal with the two book-throwing enemies, then climb down the ladder. Jump over to the ledge on the right, then hit the wall to reveal a giant enemy and another door. Go through this door and you'll be able to increase your maximum health again. Go back out, take the ladders and get to the bottom of this room. Here, you'll find a door to the left and the right.

Take the Door on the Right

In here, you'll find three books. These are anatomy books with drawings of three different bones.

Take the Door on the Left

Pull the lever at the bottom, to the left to move two platforms, then climb up and pull the lever on the right. Drop down and pull the bottom lever again, so both platforms are on the left-hand side. Climb up the ladder and take the door on the left. Drop down onto the ledge to pick up the Phalanx of Aralcarm, the Archivist.

Then jump over to the platform on the left and hit the wall to stop the man from hammering against it. Go into the cave to the left and as you come back out, you'll meet Diosdado from earlier, who will give you The Young Masons Wheel for stopping the sound.

Go back into the previous room, then use the Blood Perpetuated in Sand to jump across to the lever on the upper lever and pull this. This will move the second platform and unlock the door, allowing you to climb up and open the chest for the Lorquiana spell.

Now drop back down and continue to the left, take out the big enemy then drop down from the far left end of the edge. Here you can pick up the Drop of Coagulated Ink.

Drop down, then climb down the ladder on the right. Use the ranged attack to pick up the Cherub and then climb down.

Take the door on the right to reach The Sleeping Canvases.

After The Sleeping Canvases

When you've finished the boss battle in The Sleeping Canvases, you'll exit to the right and back into the Library of the Negated Words. Pull the lever to bring down a lift. With the Blood Perpetuated in Sand and Three Gnarled Tongues equipped, you can go through the lift and climb up onto the ledges and vines that appear, to reach the Cherub above. Use a ranged attack to grab it.

Once you've got this, drop back down and take the lift up.

Go through the door on the left to find the Mea Culpa Shrine and increase the Mea Culpa strength and combat techniques available. Now go through the door to the right and the ghost in the chair will disappear, dropping the Embossed Mask of Cescente.

Go through the door to the right once more, for a cutscene to begin. Pick up the Big Bead of Red Wax from the statue, then hit the wall on the right to open up the room.

Go across to the right, through the door and then up the ladders to make your way out of Library of the Negated Words and back to Mother of Mothers.
