There is no real believable proof to support it being canon. They both stated that they see each other as friends, same goes for Lyra and Bon Bon.

The only “proof”, if you can call it that, is the heavily overused blushing in Rollercoaster of Friendship. Other than that, there’s no real proof.

Anyone who claims Rarijack, or Sparity are actually canon couples are in denial because they refuse to except the fact that those ships will never sail.

That artist is probably one the most prolific makers of Rarijack, but most of it is humanized which I typically filter.

Lyrabon exchanged gifts in hearts & hoofs day in a montage of big mac being depressed looking at other couples.

Rarijack was hinted at as strongly as you can get in a Y7 show in EG without flat out saying it.

But at the end of the day these are cartoons about friendship and any/all romances/potential romances are secondary to set friendships

On Lyra and Bon Bon.

Hearts and Hooves Day is basically the MLP version of Valentine’s Day.

And keeping that in mind, friends give each other gifts on Valentine’s Day just like couples, therefore it’s likely it was a friendly gesture not a romantic one.

Proof being: The CMC also exchanged Hearts and Hooves Day stuff with each other but were shown to be interested in colts.

Another set of evidence is the number of times Lyra and Bon Bon have been seen in relationships with stallions.

Case being, what you said at the end of your comment, they are just friends like Rarity and Applejack, any argument is invalid unless Hasbro says otherwise.

Yes, friends do occasionally give each other gifts on Valentines Day but the holiday is usually more focused on romance. Also, given the context of that scene, Big Mac was looking at a bunch of couples when he was worried about his relationship with Sugar Belle. With that context in mind, it did come off as romantic to other people.

As for your comment about the two of them being seen with stallions, a lot of the background ponies have been on “dates” or have been seen with different ponies in different scenes. They kinda haven’t been all too consistent with that sort of thing.

Agreed. The whole issue with the controversy is that people were claiming their ships were “Canon now” based on miniscule evidence, and a special that could have been better.. All I got from Rollercoaster of Friendship was that it was an attempt to show that the EqG Mane 7 are like real life teenage girls and therefore have teenage girl friendships…. Something I believe is a valid point to bring up in the argument of “Canon or not” . As for Lyrabon, I also agree. Valentine’s Day/Hearts and Hooves Day aren’t just about love and romance, they’re about spending time with the people/ponies you care about, which includes best buds.

You’re objectively wrong if you think Lyra and Bon Bon dating is non-canon. Why would Big Mac be made sad seeing them together in the context of the episode? Obviously their relationship reminded him of his and Sugar Belle’s. Them being lesbians is the only correct way of looking at the scene. There’s no room for debate. You may as well say Mr. and Mrs. Cake aren’t married.

I could see how using that context only would give that vibe, but if I remember correctly, Big Mac never looked at them during that scene. All the couples he seemed to notice were Mare x Stallion couples.

He never actually looked at Lyra and Bon Bon, if he did he probably was sad because even friends were exchanging gifts and his mind was that he and Sugar Belle weren’t even going to remain friends.

Also, Mr. And Mrs. Cake have been confirmed as a married couple as they have stated it. Lyra and Bon Bon have stated, numerously, that they are just best friends.
