Paul, on March 24, after a courageous and aggressive battle against cancer. Born in Biwabik, MN on June 21, 1914, he married Phyllis Shank, also of Biwabik, on October 25, 1940. After completing his electrical engineering degree, he was employed in mining operations on the Iron Range for many years, and was involved in Biwabik's community life, playing saxophone in the City Band, singing in the Congregational Church Choir, and serving as Past Master Masonic Lodge. In 1962, George Phyllis moved to Liberia, West Africa, where he was the electrical superintendent of another mining operation. They made their final home together in St.

Paul, where George, after retiring from American Hoist, served as president of the Downtown St. Paul Lion's Club, took flying lessons, sang in the Osman Shrine Chanters, and enjoyed a close family life.
