The father of a 15-year-old boy told police his son had burned a spot about one inch in diameter on the outside of his left forearm. The boy said he and a 16-year-old girl were at her apartment over the lunch hour listening to music when she "made" him burn himself on the arm nine times. The girl reportedly heated up the metal end of a lighter, handed it to him, and told him to bum his arm so he would be "just like her." She said she had burned herself the same way on Sept.

2. Caller leaves message A registered nurse supervisor at Nazareth Heights, 1755 E. Johnson told police a man who called the retirement home for nuns Sept. 3 told her he had killed his mother. The supervisor said the man asked for a nursing assistant named Dee Dee.

When she told him there were no nursing assistants with that name, he told her Jhe killed his mother and hung up. Meade, 79 Wakawn said a thief cut the rope to take a flag from a pole from his front yard. Meade said the $40 flag was stolen sometime between 9 p.m. Sept. 3 and 6:30 a.m. Sept.

4. Driver approaches girls A man who asked directions from two 15-year-old girls walking home from school took their picture before speeding away in his pickup truck. The girls said the man drove past them once before asking for directions to Morris Street, at the intersection of Grove and Superior streets. They described the man as between the age of 35 and 40. He has a heavy build and dark wavy collar-length hair with a receding hairline.

The man left the area traveling north on Superior Street in a red pickup truck. The incident occurred between 3:50 and 4 p.m. Driver, 79, injured A 79-year-old Fond du Lac man sustained internal injuries in a two-car accident Sept. 3 on West Scott Street. Richard Mundt, N7594 Eagle Lane, was traveling east on Scott Street when he was unable to avoid colliding with a vehicle crossing the street from North Brooke Street.

Joyce A. Pulcine, N7604 Townline Road, was not injured, according to the accident report. She told police she was making a short right turn and quick left from Brooke Street across Scott Street, in an attempt to proceed north on Water Street. Pulcine said she stopped for the stop sign on Brooke Street and thought she had time to get across to Water Street. The accident occurred at 7:49 p.m.

Dave R. Koepke told police that a cassette tape player, amplifier, speaker box and tapes valued at $525 and a $100 pair of sunglasses were taken when a sliding window was forced open on his truck. Anthony J. Neff reported the theft of a compact disc player, speaker box and amplifier valued at $925. The Neff truck was entered through an already broken window.

CD player taken Elizabeth D. Brandl, 485 W. Scott told police Sept. 2 that a compact disc player and amplifier valued at $400 were taken from her auto. A rear window was broken to gain entry.

Motorist fails to stop An 88-year-old Fond du Lac man was cited for failure to stop for a school crossing guard at the crossing at East Johnson Street and Weis Avenue on Sept. 2. The crossing guard provided Fond du Lac police with the license plate number of the offending vehicle. The driver admitted the offense when contacted by officers. Auto vandalized A car owned by Debbie L.

Breitrick, 70 Prairie Road, No. 203, was egged sometime between 10 p.m. Sept. 2 and 10:30 a.m. Sept.

3 while parked in front of her apartment. Eggs were found on tie ground at the complex. Wallet taken from car Ngia Ying Lor, 240 Doty told police someone stole his wallet which contained a legal alien card. Also inside the wallet was $15 cash, a driver's license, identification card and Social Security card. Lor said his car was unlocked and parked in the driveway of his residence when the wallet was taken sometime between 8 p.m.

Why, then, is he the sheriffs department's only DARE officer? The City of Fond du Lac has seven trained officers, three of them full-time DARE officers. When you consider that the county has spent $160,000 to house prisoners this year, is building a new jail and expecting to spend another $400,000 to house prisoners again next year, don't say we don't have the money. Just where are our priorities? Prevention is where it's at. Let's support those efforts with additional staff. Mary's Springs High School the same as it provides to all other schools in the community? It's a daytime nightmare watching the students and faculty risk their lives entering the terribly-busy intersection where East Johnson and County Trunk converge. Bus service could cut down car traffic during the morning and afternoon periods and provide considerably safer transportation.
